Terms of use
Last updated 3 November 2026
- Mots complices teaches the French word pairs natives use. Its AI coach is helpful but can make mistakes.
- Purchases go through the App Store or Google Play. Subscriptions renew until you cancel them in your store account.
- Premium à vie is a one-time purchase, for as long as we offer the app.
- What you write stays yours; the catalogue and the app stay ours.
- You can stop at any time and delete your account from the app.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Diwbiau Labs, a sole proprietorship (entreprise individuelle) registered under RCCM CD/KNG/RCCM/26-A-06033, tax number (NIF) A2650622D, Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (“we”, “us”), the publisher of Mots complices. They apply to the app for iPhone and Android and to the website motscomplices.com. By using them, you accept these terms; if you don’t, please don’t use them.
How we handle your data is explained in our privacy policy. Nothing in these terms takes away the rights consumer law gives you where you live.
2. The app
Mots complices helps you learn French collocations, the word pairs natives use (« un souvenir impérissable », « prendre une décision »), with short daily sessions, spaced repetition, a daily challenge and an AI coach in the Atelier.
Studying works offline once the catalogue is downloaded. The Atelier, sync and purchases need a connection.
The app can help you prepare for exams such as the TCF or the DELF, but it is not affiliated with or endorsed by France Éducation international or any exam body, and it can’t guarantee a result.
3. Your account
The app starts with an anonymous account, so you can study right away. You can link it to Apple, Google or an email address to keep your progress when you change phones and, with Premium, to sync it across your devices. Keep access to the account you linked: it is how you get your progress back.
An account is for one person. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough under your local law to accept these terms, or have a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
4. Plans and payments
Plans
- Free: a set number of new collocations a day, part of the catalogue, and 3 AI checks a month.
- Premium à vie: a one-time purchase that unlocks the whole catalogue, with 10 AI checks a month.
- Premium, monthly or yearly: a subscription that unlocks the whole catalogue, with unlimited AI checks under fair use.
Monthly allowances start again on the 1st of each month; unused checks don’t carry over. Fair use is there to stop automated or abusive use, and normal learning never reaches it: at most 60 checks a day.
« À vie » means for as long as we offer the app, not for your lifetime. If we ever close the app, we will tell you in the app at least 90 days ahead.
Paying
Prices are shown in the app by your store, in your currency, with taxes included where required. You pay Apple or Google, under their terms. Purchases are linked to your store account and can be restored with « Restaurer mes achats ».
Subscriptions
A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your store charges you within the 24 hours before renewal. Manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings: deleting the app or your account does not cancel it. After you cancel, Premium stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
If a subscription price goes up, your store tells you beforehand and, where the law requires it, asks for your agreement.
Founding-member offer
People on the early-access list may receive a personal code for their first year of Premium yearly at a reduced price. The code is single-use and personal, can’t be exchanged for cash, and expires on the date given in the email. It is for new subscribers only. After the first year, the subscription renews at the normal yearly price unless you cancel it.
Refunds and withdrawal
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies; we can’t issue them ourselves. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. Because Premium starts as soon as you buy it, you agree, by asking for immediate access, that this right ends once access has begun, as the law allows. Your store’s refund policy still applies.
5. The Atelier and AI feedback
Atelier feedback is written automatically by an AI model, checked against our catalogue. It can be wrong or incomplete. Take it as guidance from a coach, not as an official correction or grade.
Only send your own words. Don’t send other people’s messages or personal details, or anything sensitive. You are responsible for what you send. We don’t keep it after the check, as our privacy policy explains.
6. Acceptable use
When you use Mots complices, don’t:
- break the law or anyone else’s rights;
- use bots or scripts, or copy, scrape or extract the catalogue;
- copy, change or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law allows it;
- get around plan limits, allowances or payments, or resell or share access;
- disrupt the service, or try to reach other people’s data;
- use the Atelier to produce content that is illegal, hateful or harmful.
7. Content and intellectual property
The catalogue (collocations, meanings, examples, exercises, intensity scales, audio), the app and its design belong to us or to our licensors and are protected by copyright. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own learning, not for commercial use. You may share the cards the app makes with its share button.
What you write in the app, such as your notes and Atelier texts, stays yours. You allow us to process it only to provide the feature you use. If you send us suggestions, we may use them freely.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep Mots complices running and accurate, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance. We add and update content regularly, and we may change or remove features. If a change significantly reduces what you paid for, we will tell you beforehand.
9. Ending
You can stop using the app at any time and delete your account from it (Profil, then « Compte et synchronisation »). To stop paying for a subscription, also cancel it in your store account.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, after a warning where possible.
10. Liability
We provide the app with care, but we don’t guarantee that it is free of errors or that it will meet a particular goal, such as an exam result. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, such as for fraud, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or your legal guarantees as a consumer, including the guarantee of conformity for digital content in the European Union.
11. If you got the app from the App Store
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for any claim about it, such as a product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claim. If the app fails to conform to a warranty that applies, you may notify Apple, which may refund the purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm that you are not in a country under a United States government embargo and are not on a United States list of prohibited or restricted parties.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim before its courts. If something goes wrong, please write to us first: most problems are solved quickly that way.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add a feature. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app at least 30 days before it applies. If you don’t agree, you can stop using the app and delete your account.
